Docklands is the semi-official name for an area in the east of London, comprising parts of several boroughs (Southwark, Tower Hamlets,Globe Town, Newham and Greenwich) in Greater London. The eponymous docks were formerly part of the Port of London, at one time the world's largest port. They have now been redeveloped principally for commercial and residential use. The Docklands area is home to ExCel, an international exhibition and conference centre which organizes a vast range of events, from internationally acclaimed travel trade exhibitions to high octane sporting events for all the family, as well as product launches, conferences and corporate hospitality functions. It is situated alongside Canary Warf and City Airport, within a stunning waterfront setting which includes a variety of bars, pubs and restaurants.
